FreeSurfer is a set of tools for analysis and visualization of structural and functional brain imaging data. FreeSurfer contains a fully automatic structural imaging stream for processing cross sectional and longitudinal data.

Accessing FreeSurfer 6.0.1-centos6_x86_64

To load the module for FreeSurfer 6.0.1-centos6_x86_64 please use this command on the BEAR systems (BlueBEAR, BEAR Cloud VMs, and CaStLeS VMs):

module load FreeSurfer/6.0.1-centos6_x86_64

Licensing

FreeSurfer licenses are free, but they use registrations to keep rough statistics on the number of users, which they can use in grants and presentations as a demonstration of their contribution to the neuroimaging community.

Please register for a licence here: https://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/registration.html

Then to use your licence, set the FS_LICENSE environment variable with the path of the file, e.g. in your batch script:

export FS_LICENSE=${HOME}/.freesurfer_licence
